How To Hide Your Spare Key So You Are Never Locked Out Of The House Again
Getting locked out of the house is never fun, especially if the weather is less than perfect. This is why it is so important to make sure that you are creating a few great hiding spots for some spare house keys. To help you do just that, you are going to want to make sure that you are checking out the following suggestions for places to hide keys in your own yard.
In The Birdbath Water
Most criminals are not going to think about digging around in the bird bath water in hopes of stumbling across a spare house key. This is why it is the perfect hiding spot. Of course, you have to take precautions in order to ensure that the key will not rust or become easily seen by someone simply walking past the bird bath. Take the key, place it in a sandwich bag, and then seal it up nice and tight. This will protect the key from the water. You will then want to place the key at the bottom of the bird bath and then cover it with rocks, gems, or whatever else you can think of. This hides your key and gives the bird bath a little decorative touch.
Under The Rock
This is not referring those fake rocks you buy in the store for hiding keys. Many of those look like obvious spare key holders. What you want is areal rock that can conceal your spare house key. Simply glue the top of a prescription bottle lid to the underside of a flat rock. Once that glue has dried, you can then attach the bottle to it once the key is safely inside. Now all you have to do is to dig a little hole in the ground that is big enough to fit the prescription bottle, but not so deep that you will end up burying the rock itself.
In With The Bird Seed
This is another great spot that many criminals will not think to dig through. After all, the last thing that they want to do is to bring attention to themselves. All you have to do to properly conceal your spare house key is empty the bird feeder, tape your key inside of the bird seed container. Just make sure that it is on the bottom or low enough along the walls so that it will always be covered by bird seed. Then refill the feeder and hang it up.
As you can see, there are a lot of creative places to hide your spare house key. You will never have to worry about being locked out ever again. For more solutions, contact a local locksmith (like Broadway Locksmith Inc).
